It was around 8.30 in the morning. Me and my father reached the campus in our car. The poor thing had given up on itself, after being hauled all the way across from Jammu; across the deserts of Rajasthan, and the mayhem of Delhi.
After parking, I moved around a little, trying to gauge the situation. The registration wasn't due till 10, so I supposedly had lots of time to kill, or so I thought. Another Fachcha (first year student for the uninitiated) asked me " Which Dorm?" When he saw my blank face, he told me about how to get a room. I went to the SAO, signed the form, got the key, and the porter came up.
"Sir, samaan le ke jaana hai aapka?"
"Nahi nahi, I'll take it myself."
"OK Sir, if you need help, you can call us up."
Professional to the core here, everyone.
I was given a bag containing a phone instrument, LAN cable, All Out and related stuff. Went to my room and deposited all my stuff there. The rooms here are spacious. You are given a bed+mattress, a computer chair, an easy chair, almirah, book shelves and what not. Every room has a balcony, which is useful when you cannot take any more of the studies: go out, and admire the beauty of the campus for some time. Come back with renewed vigour, and start all over again.
Then I did my registration, paid the fees, met a few more of my batchmates. Then it was time for the dreaded activity: get the casemats. A stack of heavy books was duly handed over to me, with a slight smirk of seen-'em-all on the face of the guy in the casemat unit.
Then we had our orientation session in RJM(RJ Mathai Auditorium), where the director welcomed us to IIM-A. We then had a welcome tea session where we interacted with our batchmates. Finally, it was time to go to the Dorm. After seeing-off my father, I made my way to Catch-22: the best dorm in Asia-Pacific, my home for the next two years.

We're underway!!!
Finally, I start on this venture of mine. It's been 3 weeks here, and they've whizzed past faster than Schumi in his Ferrari. We are often found questioning each other in class " What's the day today?", and greeted with blank faces. Life is extremely fast here, and that is a good thing. The underlying theme of all the courses we are doing here is to teach us one thing: how to manage time, the most important resource of them all.
The culture of this place is awe-inspiring. You cannot help but stand and admire the LKP, the dorms, the tunnel, the red bricks, the history. I almost went numb the first time I entered the campus and looked around.
Now, I have never been part of such a high profile place ever in my life. So it was pretty odd for me when the porter came up to me and said "Do you need your luggage taken to the room?"
Huh...!
But I digress. I'll post event wise. But we're off the ground now.
